Blackburn Bike Helmet Mirror

I dropped my 15 year old version of this helmet mirror. The helmet with it attached fell 6 feet to the floor and broke the arm holding the mirror.Having used the mirror for all those years, it just seemed second nature to always know what is behind and approaching. So before the replacement came, I did ONE 10 mile trip. THAT reminded me of what so many bike riders face: backwards blindness. And taking their eyes off of what is in front to turn their head and look back. I didn’t feel safe at all during that mirrorless 10 miles! After reading some of the negative posts, I’m a bit mystified. Yes, it does vibrate a bit at high speed, but slight movements of the head negate bad effects, at least for me (hey, maybe I don’t ride as fast as some folks ). Mounting does need to be in the right place. My helmet is nothing special, but it has a hard shell. Years ago the small sticky sheet they provide gave out. It just dried out. But knowing exactly where the mount for the mirror should be, a few drops of superglue fixed it “permanently.”I remember when I first got it that it took awhile to get used to looking at the upper left corner of my glasses to see behind. Had to close my right eye for awhile to make it happen. After a month or so, I realized that I could look ahead and back at the same time! My brain would switch on one and off the other on command. I don’t leave home without it.
