First off, let me state my disclaimer: While I am not currently an avid snorkeler, nor do I consider myself to be a top-notch connoisseur of snorkeling gear, I have done my fair share in the past…So far, I have only tried this set out in my bathtub (obviously mask only! LOL.), and in a relative’s swimming pool (full set). I’ve not yet taken it out on the open water, but I’m imagining that it should perform similarly there…To start, I’ll say that this is definitely a surface-only mask/snorkel set-up. I had hoped that I would be able to comfortably dive to, at least, a shallow depth of a few feet. But, nope! Don’t even bother trying…The mask is large, comfortable, clear, anti-fog, and has a spacious feel with exceptional visibility. It will work very well for those who tend to be claustrophobic… which I am not.I appreciate the valve that is integrated into the snorkel tube, which discourages water from being accidentally aspirated…As far as the fins go, I would classify them as a decent beginner-to-intermediate-level pair. I wear a size 11 men’s shoe, and the size large fit me well. Easily adjustable, and do their job…Now, with all that being said… As much as I would like to expound on how this set is superior to many others in its class, I simply cannot do that. And, for that reason, I also can’t justify the roughly doubled price-tag. It seems to me that there are several comparable sets in this class at half the price. So, I sincerely think that you’re paying quite a bit more for the Cressi brand-name…As aforementioned, I’ve not yet had the chance to put this set through its serious paces. But, at the same time, I feel pretty comfortable in predicting that I will probably be sticking to a slightly more advanced, traditional-style set for any future snorkeling/diving that I decide to do…Overall, definitely NOT a bad set. And, I am definitely NOT disappointed with it. For what it is (and isn’t), I rate it 4.4 stars…
